Importance of Play

Play is one of the necessity children need to grow and develop in the early years and this is the time they assimilate whatever they see in their environment.

When children play they tend to learn from their environment on their own manipulating objects and also why it is in that environment.

Have you ever wondered why children don’t respond to adult who frown or play with them because the children see the adult as one who is not accessible as an instructor who they can share how they fell about something to and so they withdraw themselves from unfriendly adults.

Children at this stage are very inquisitive about their environment and would want to explore every bit of it so as to know more about the environment.

At this stage children are very sensitive just like how sensitive they are when their mother carries them.

The question still remains do children need attention while they grow and as they explore their environment? Play is something essential in the growth of children for any child to grow he must have first interact with his environment and his able to explore with the things around.

A child in his early years needs an adult to be his watch dog on what to do and to be able to gain full grasp of a particular thing they are inquisitive about.  What then is the role of the adult? The adult here must be someone who can tolerate children and is very friendly. The adult here does more of the listening to the child and his careful about what the child is exposed to.

The mother most time is the adult in a child's early life because she is most times accessible by the child and pays attention because there is a bonding relationship between the child and the mother. Being a parent to children in the early years is sometimes annoying to the parent and want to ignore the child but forget the child needs the freedom to express himself.

The adult here is just there to help the child develop his skills just like when one scaffolds a building and then wants to either paint or plaster the house so also is the function or the role of the adult in helping the child grow to his full potential.

The role of the adult here is to make sure the environment is prepared, pay close attention to the child, make sure the environment is not harmful, must be friendly at all time with the child, must be accessible and of it all friendly!
